Idea of the Conference
The Arab Gulf is considered as the cornerstone of any current and future renaissance in the Arab world in general and the Islamic world in particular due to its oil wealth, strategic sites, great development achievements and a genuine Arab history. Because of its growing importance it was natural to see that it faces many challenges and aspirations especially at the security and economic levels. In fact the economic challenge is closely related to the security challenge. Conflicts and incidents of terrorism drain heavy economic resources and affect growth and development. Low oil prices and low rates of development are exploited by extremists and terrorists. Media, nationally and internationally, represents a common denominator in the challenges of the Arab Gulf in general and the security and economic challenges in particular, and it became known to the public the role that media plays in encouraging extremism and terrorism or challenging it. Media can either hamper economic development or support the national economy.
